As Finance Manager at geo, reporting directly to the VP of Finance, you will be involved in a wide variety of work, managing key processes such as cash flow forecasting, invoice processing, supplier payments, payroll, and VAT returns, while also contributing to audit preparation, statutory reporting, and the annual R&D tax claim

Our business

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Finance Manager to join our Finance Team, reporting to the VP of Finance. You will take day-to-day responsibility for core financial management processes, providing guidance to two team members (Financial Accounting Analyst and Assistant Accountant), ensuring that routine processes run smoothly and efficiently.

 

You will be involved in a wide variety of work, managing key processes such as cash flow forecasting, invoice processing, supplier payments, payroll, and VAT returns, while also contributing to audit preparation, statutory reporting, and the annual R&D tax claim. You will lead the preparation of the monthly management accounts pack and associated reporting, including sales reporting, gross margin analysis, cost centre reporting, and monitoring project expenditure. The successful candidate will support the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts and contribute to the development of Finance IT systems to continually enhance our transaction processing, financial planning, and financial reporting capabilities.

The role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent Excel skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. With a strong technical skillset, commercial awareness, and excellent communication skills, you will be confident in providing guidance to team members, consulting with colleagues across the business, and interacting with auditors, customers, suppliers, and other third-parties.

Job role

  • Oversee sales invoicing, purchase order management, supplier payments, and credit control.
  • Maintain aligned financial forecasts across planned sales and production activities.
  • Ownership of the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Supervise the preparation of monthly payroll and the ensuing filings and payments.
  • Maintain our cash flow forecast, reflecting recent activity and operational requirements.
  • Maintain financial controls (including balance sheet reconciliations) ensuring GL integrity.
  • Lead the preparation of the monthly Management Accounts Pack and associated reporting.
  • Preparation of quarterly VAT Returns (including Postponed VAT Accounting for Import VAT).
  • Contribute to the annual statutory audit, preparing schedules and responding to queries.
  • Support the preparation of the annual R&D tax credit claim, working with external advisors.
  • Assist with annual budget setting and provide ongoing monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
  • Contribute to Finance systems and FP&A projects, to support business requirements.
  • Ad hoc duties as reasonably required.

Requirements

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or finalist (QBE considered).
  • Strong background in Finance operations (AP, AR, cash management, payroll, VAT, audit).
  • Exposure to management accounts preparation and reporting
  • Confident user of Excel (advanced formulas, data analysis, pivot tables).
  • Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines.
  • Self-starter, who takes ownership, and proposes improvements in processes and systems.
  • Meticulous, proactive, and enthusiastic, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communicator, able to engage effectively across teams.
  • Comfortable supervising colleagues, or ready to step into a supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with Dynamics NAV (or similar ERP), Jet Reports, and PowerBI (desirable).
  • Experience preparing financial accounts to audit standard (desirable).
  • Experience of working in a start-up, scale-up, or SME environment (desirable).
