10 things I love about my Cosy
Here are 10 things that I love about my Cosy that I would like to share with you:
1. I can control my heating from anywhere
Once you’ve settled down on the sofa for the evening, nice glass of wine in hand, the smart thermostat in the airing cupboard may as well be on the other side of the country. With Cosy you have a portable thermostat that goes where you go.
And that’s just the start. Cosy allows you to control your heating via an app on your smartphone. That means I can make instant changes to my heating settings from the office, the gym or practically anywhere else.
2. My winter energy bill is down
At the risk of sounding like a stinge (my friends will read this), I hate wasting money. With traditional heating systems you are a slave to rigid pre-set programmes – which generally boil down to ‘heating comes on at this time and goes off at that time’.
Life is never that black and white.
Cosy means I can override my default settings and turn the heating off with my smartphone. So if I stay late at the office or go for dinner after work, I can make sure the heating is not on (and wasting money) when it’s not needed.
3. It’s easy to use. Like, really easy
Cosy is idiot-proof. (I should know.) It takes thirty minutes to set up and the instructions are easy to follow. After that, everything is intuitive – it only takes one go to get used to the interface. If a luddite like me can master it, I’m pretty sure anyone can.
4. It’s flexible
Having become so used to heating that was either on or off, Cosy was something of a revelation. I have three different pre-set temperatures: one default temperature; one that’s warmer to toasty up those nippy nights; and one far lower temperature that keeps my flat comfortable overnight. (No one likes getting out of bed when it’s freezing beyond the bedsheets.)
You can set any of the pre-sets to come on at any time (my default fires up at 5.30pm on weekdays so the flat is nice and cosy by the time I get home from work), shuffle between the options at the touch of a button and tweak any of the pre-sets in a matter of seconds.
5. My partner can control the heating too
I’m the main user of Cosy as my other half travels a lot with work during the week. But the Cosy smartphone app allows us both to tweak the heating settings around our schedules. (There’s an easy joke to be made here about things hotting up when the other half is around. The grim reality is that he likes the house a lot cooler than I do.)
6. No more fighting with the thermostat
I can’t be the only one who thinks normal thermostats are confusing. Sometimes the best you can hope for is that the heating comes on at all, let alone at a certain time. Cosy’s a smart thermostat though, which means no more doing battle in the airing cupboard with a torch poking out of my mouth. Glory be.
7. No more coming back to a freezing flat
We often go away at the weekends to see somewhere new or visit friends. That means putting Cosy into Hibernation mode to avoid heating an empty flat. But there are few things as awful as coming home to an ice-cold flat – especially if it’s late in the evening. With Cosy I can turn the heating on half an hour or so before we get home, which makes the world of difference. Not least after a long journey.
8. I can control other appliances too
Cosy does more than heating, it’s quickly turning my house into a smart home. You can also control lighting and any appliance. I like to turn on a couple of the hallway lamps if I’m going to be home after dark, just as a little burglar deterrent. (You can’t be too careful, hey?) And if I’m going to be back really late and it’s really cold, it’s on with the electric blanket. Bliss. (Yes, I really do get that cold.)
9. Cosy updates itself
One of my only concerns about buying Cosy was how long it would last before it became outdated or I had to buy something else to make it compatible with new technology. Needn’t have worried. Cosy updates itself automatically via the internet. I don’t need to lift a finger.
10. It’s a home-grown product
When it comes to eating I like to buy as local as possible. It’s a shopping habit that has started informing my buying choices elsewhere too. So, although this is a personal point that many might not care about, I really like that the team behind Cosy are based in the UK. Their customer service is super efficient too – and no horrible automated telephone answer services.
So there you have it. For me Cosy is about smarter heating, without having to fiddle around with anything complicated. Best of all? My electricity bills are down on last winter. Now, where did I put that wine?
How do I set the preset to different times?
